Friendship Among Nations
January 15, 1970
With great pride, we announce that our esteemed President, Raksmei Sayavong, has reached an important agreement with representatives of the USSR to assist in the modernization and industrialization of the Democratic Republic of Lamang.
"The Soviet Union has long played a crucial role among the nations striving for liberation from colonial and imperialist oppression. They have consistently stood on the side of just and rightful people, and today is no exception. We are not blind to the actions of the United States in Southeast Asia. These aggressors, acting like gangsters above the law, wage war not only against the freedom fighters of Vietnam but also inflicting suffering on innocent civilians in Laos and Cambodia, who are not even parties to the conflict. The imperialists will stop at nothing. We learned our lesson with the British, and we won't wait for the US to come to our island.
That is why I welcome this strengthening of our partnership with the USSR, an unshakable stronghold against the imperialist predators that seek to dominate the world."
Military Exercise
The largest military exercise in Lamang’s history has just concluded.
“We are ready for any unforeseen challenges. No enemy will ever set foot on our soil and find us unprepared,” stated General Sangha Vang.
Commentary by Khamphanh Vongphachanh
A man cannot survive alone, and the same is true for nations. Though we are a strong and independent country, hungry sharks still circle beyond our borders, waiting for any sign of weakness to strike.
But unity brings strength. That is why we proudly declare to the world that we have entered into a friendship with the largest nation on Earth — the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
The Soviets are not like the British, Japanese, or Americans. They do not seek to colonize us or dictate our path. Instead, they stand with us as equals, encouraging us to grow, prosper, and realize our full potential. And for that reason, this friendship shall endure.
We salute our wise and visionary President Raksmei Sayavong, whose leadership has secured this historic alliance, bringing lasting strength and prosperity to Lamang.

Film Review by Nok Kao — Patton
This war movie lionizes the imperialist General George S. Patton, who led U.S. forces during World War II. Though it makes a superficial attempt to present him as a layered character, the narrative ultimately glorifies aggression, arrogance, and blind patriotism.
Although the lead actor gives a powerful performance, the film’s underlying message is too steeped in Western militaristic fantasy to resonate with audiences who haven’t had their brains numbed by cola and popcorn.
