Never Again!
February 14, 2024
Today marks exactly 200 years since one of the darkest chapters in Lamang’s history — when our homeland was seized and turned into a British colony.
At the time, we did not fully understand what was happening. We were unwillingly forced into servitude by foreign rulers from a distant island, thousands of kilometers away, who claimed the right to decide our fate.
It took many years — and countless sacrifices — before we broke free and reclaimed our sovereignty. But every struggle was worth it when we look at the Lamang of today, and all we have achieved under the leadership of President Narith Sayavong.
“We are a people who cherish peace and stability. But we will never again allow our country to be enslaved. We will defend it with whatever we have — and if it comes to it, we will fight with our fists and our teeth,” said Vice President Jan Park.
We fully stand by his words. Should our sovereignty ever again be threatened, there is no doubt that the people of Lamang will rise as one to defend our nation from any would-be usurpers. Let history be our witness: Lamang will never kneel again!
Death to the Enemies of Liberty
Across towns and villages throughout the nation, the people of Lamang raise their voices in pride as the Union Jack burns.
“We were meant to stay on standby today,” said Malaithong Sisoulith, chief of the eastern fire department, “but when we saw the British flags set ablaze, we couldn’t help but join in.”
Everyone is doing their part.
Commentary by Khamphanh Vongphachanh
I’m deeply proud to see our country steadily moving away from its colonial legacy. Today, many ordinary citizens can hardly speak English anymore — and that’s a remarkable achievement. It took major education reforms and a great deal of sacrifice, but we’ve done it. We’ve returned to our roots. I feel a surge of pride when I walk through our cities and hear, almost exclusively, our native language instead of the tongue of our former oppressors. On this sombre anniversary, it’s significant that this linguistic shift is now nearly complete.
To my fellow citizens: do not let yourselves be lured back into the trap of the English language. Let the burden of learning and using that cursed tongue fall to politicians, scientists, businesspeople, and their families. You should take joy in speaking your mother tongue freely and proudly.

Film Review by Nok Dam — Madame Web
Madame Web is a muddled Marvel spinoff that struggles under a convoluted script, uninspired direction, and a full-blown tonal identity crisis. While Dakota Johnson delivers occasional moments of muted charm, the film is bogged down by heavy exposition, sloppy effects, and a lack of coherent vision.
This movie serves as yet another reminder that, for all their dazzling technology, Western imperialists remain ideologically bankrupt. As such, it is but another shiny distraction from a culture in decline.
2/10
