Plans For The Future
June 26, 1996
Following the sorrowful passing of our liberator and former President, Raksmei Sayavong, his son, Narith Sayavong, has taken on the solemn responsibility of leading our nation into the new millennium. One of his first directives is to strengthen the development of both industry and tourism
Across the island, voices of hope and excitement can be heard as new opportunities arise, offering people the chance to learn, grow, and improve their lives.
“We want to be more open to the world and create new opportunities for the proud people of Lamang who are striving for a better future. New jobs will be created, and anyone willing can take part and find fulfillment,” said President Narith Sayavong during his inauguration speech.
Renaming of Fort Raksmei
With the inauguration of our new President, Narith Sayavong, it was officially announced that Fort Raksmei would henceforth bear the name Fort Narith, in his honor.
“When I heard the news, I could not hold back my tears of joy. There was no more fitting decision,” said one worker, echoing the sentiments shared by citizens across Lamang.
Commentary by Khamphanh Vongphachanh
When one era comes to an end, another begins. The reign of Raksmei Sayavong was marked by the restoration of our independence and the pursuit of stability during the turbulent Cold War era. Now, under the leadership of Narith Sayavong, Lamang steps forward into a new world order, ready to share our beautiful culture with the world.
As someone who once stood among the Sons of Lamang during the great liberation, it is both humbling and inspiring to witness a new generation rise and carry the torch into a brighter future.
I hold the deepest confidence that President Narith Sayavong will transform Lamang into a true paradise on Earth. We stand with you, Mr. President.

Film Review by Nok Dam — Eraser
A middling action flick starring a weary-looking Arnold Schwarzenegger as yet another special agent. Eraser plays like a hollow echo of 80s action movies. The special effects verge on comical, and the so-called high-tech weapons look like props from a paranoid Western fever dream.
If you want a Schwarzenegger film where everything actually works, revisit Commando (1985). As for this one? I’d gladly erase Eraser from memory.
