Raksmei Sayavong (1924-1996)
June 23, 1996
It is with great sorrow that we must announce the death of our beloved leader and the father of our free nation.
He tragically lost his life in an automobile accident, and with him, the world has lost a towering figure who helped shape modern history.
Let us honor the sacrifices he made in the name of freedom. As a young man, he was obliged to leave his family and join the freedom fighters who stood bravely against a criminal regime that took power after the expulsion of the vicious British.
In 1968, his lifelong dream became reality when he led the liberation of the Lamang people. Under his leadership, the Sons of Lamang fulfilled their mission and established a legitimate democratic government. That same year, fortune smiled on him once more with the birth of his son, Narith, who now, with a heavy heart, takes up the mantle to lead our nation into a new millennium.
His legacy will be remembered with deep admiration for generations to come.
Farewell, beloved liberator.
National Mourning
From every corner of Lamang, the people's cries and sorrow can be heard throughout the land. Citizens are in disbelief at the immense loss our nation has suffered.
Work has come to a standstill as the workers cannot steady their trembling hands, and offices remain closed as tears stream down the faces of those inside.
The entire nation mourns the passing of our leader, our hero, our liberator.
Commentary by Khamphanh Vongphachanh
The heart of our great leader, burning with unwavering love for his people, has ceased to beat. This is the greatest tragedy in the nation's history.
As I write these words, the emptiness is beyond expression. Our beloved President, Raksmei Sayavong, has left us forever. It feels inconceivable.
In the streets, people wail in despair, tearing their clothes in sorrow. Even our strongest soldiers weep openly, unable to contain the grief that grips the nation.
What shall we do without our liberator? The man who led the Sons of Lamang to glorious victory over a corrupt regime... who rewrote our destiny and left an indelible mark on the world.
Even the heavens weep for the fallen President, the man who brought eternal glory to the Lamangese people.

There can be no film review when the nation is in mourning over the tragic loss of our beloved liberator.
Gone is the hero who struck down the corrupt regime that conspired with foreign powers.
Gone is the President who loved his people fiercely and dared to stand against the mightiest forces in the world.
Gone is the man who changed his destiny, and ours too.
We will never forget you, President Raksmei Sayavong. Thank you for everything.
Raksmei Sayavong Quote:
“Our nation has a responsibility to stand as a shining example of an independent and resilient small country, inspiring others like us to break free from Western imperialist domination.
Stand firm, Lamang.”
