Opening of Fort Raksmei
May 2, 1975
A new symbol of unbreakable revolutionary strength has risen on the sacred soil of the homeland. Under the extraordinary guidance of President Raksmei Sayavong, the inauguration ceremony of a newly constructed modern fort was held yesterday with great revolutionary fervor.
This impenetrable fortress stands as a bulwark of our military might, a shining testament to the outstanding achievements of President Raksmei Sayavong, who continues to lead the Lamang people on the path of self-reliance, defense, and victory.
In a congratulatory message, President Raksmei Sayavong praised the patriotic devotion of the soldiers, engineers, workers, and USSR consultants who labored tirelessly to complete this historic project ahead of schedule.
End of a Traitor
In the early hours of the morning, General Sangha Vang was executed by hanging for crimes of treason.
"I am deeply ashamed of the actions I took. My moral weakness brought loss and sorrow upon my country," the General said in his final statement. "I pray that my death may wash the shame that has befallen my family."
Following his execution, the former General’s widow and two daughters were transferred to the Homphu Suk labor camp for political reeducation.
Commentary by Khamphanh Vongphachanh
To be truly free, a nation must first be strong. The world does not respect those who cannot defend themselves. That is why it is essential that we strengthen our military by any means necessary.
We must be relentless in our mission to turn our island into an impenetrable fortress — one that no imperialist power would dare to challenge. The construction of Fort Raksmei is a vital step toward that vision. A modern military base of this scale will send a clear message: we are not to be underestimated.
Yet an army is only as strong as the people within it. And if we cannot trust our defenders, how can they protect us? The case of General Sangha Vang has revealed a hard truth: even in our new and thriving society, corruption and betrayal can still take root. For some, no amount of prosperity is ever enough.
We must remain vigilant against such opportunists who would trade their honor for thirty pieces of silver. Our future depends on it.

Film Review by Nok Kao — Death Race 2000
Death Race 2000 is a grim reflection of capitalist decadence disguised as entertainment. The story is set in a dystopian future where pedestrians are run over for points and the amusement of the viewers.
Though advertised as satire, any discerning viewer will recognize that this is less a parody and more a reflection of where the imperialist United States is headed. A nation obsessed with conflict, spectacle, and manufactured drama is bound to produce something similar to what is depicted in this disgusting film.
